Happy Fathers Day

Dear parishioners and friends,
“Life requires a lot of patience and trust.
You can’t plant an acorn today and expect to sit in the shade of an oak tree tomorrow”.

The same is true in the life of faith. We all want results now.
Yet some things can’t be rushed.
To grow in maturity is the work of a lifetime.
To build good relationships also takes time and patience.
To overcome one’s sins and weakness’ takes time.
We can learn a lot from nature.
Things take time to grow. They take time to ripen.
All the seasons have to be experienced and are needed.

Jesus before his public ministry spent 30 years at Nazareth.
He lived out his humanity quietly, maturing, growing in understanding.
The parable of the seed growing (Mark 4:1-34), shows us there is a mighty power at work for us and in us.

Our call is to sow the seed.
Farmers will tell you, even with climate change, that if we do the right thing, the harvest will come.
We need to be patient, prudent and trust.
Mgr Jim
Congratulations
To the families of Emilia and Lourdes, and Charles and Olivia, who were baptised on Saturday 8th June. We welcome these new sons and daughters of God to our community.

To Wim, Paola, Vivian and Alfonso who were commissioned as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (Eucharistic Ministers) on Sunday 9th June. Their role is primarily to assist with the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass. We give thanks for your generosity in accepting this ministry.
Anthony (Tony) McLoughlin RIP
The funeral of Anthony (Tony) McLoughlin will take place on Wednesday 26th June at 10.30 am. Please note that there will be no 10 am Mass on that day.
Fatherhood; A Gift To Our world
The original focus of Father’s Day, had a religious focus on celebrating           fathers and fatherhood. This is where we need to begin our own reflection on what it means to be entrusted with the life of another, whether the connection is biological, adoptive or those to whom we have taken on the mantle of              fatherhood.  Being a father is not simply a word, it is a lived experience, a  process filled with sacrifice, self-discovery and moments of grace.
A father-figure is one who makes a positive and constructive difference to a person’s life. Do we need to recognise this about selves, or to notice where we have received the gift of fatherhood on the journey?
Deacon Roger Carr-Jones, Marriage and Family Life Coordinator for the Diocese of Westminster

OLOV LATEST NEWS

GIFT AID DONATIONS:

Dear Parishioners:

We have worked with our colleagues in the Parish Support Team towards procedures for processing the Gift Aid from contactless donations through the Dona provider.

When signing a Gift Aid declaration on the device, you will also be asked if you would like your previous contactless donations to be Gift Aided.

Further, as entering a Gift Aid declaration on the device can take a couple of minutes, we want to help reduce the amount of time you may spend on the device, and reduce the queue for it. Leaflets have been created and placed at the back of the church and on the notice board. These contain a QR code that will enable you to use your smartphone to make your Gift Aid declaration. You can also access the Dona portal and leave your donation by simply scanning the underneath QR code:

You can also donate securely by debit or credit card by clicking on the button created at the section end.
