When Children Pray
Some years ago, in September, the thought came: Where can I get rosaries for all the children of the primary school? A few days later a text message came from my friend John Pridmore (lay evangelist, author of “From Gangland to Promised Land”) saying, “If you need rosary beads in bulk, contact this lady...” - John was in Australia at the time, I’d said nothing to him about rosaries. (I’d never previously received a text from him and haven’t since!) So the children each got a rosary with a prayer card explaining the mysteries, just in time for the Feast of the Holy Rosary on 7th October.

Five years on, I appealed to the same lady again: the packs have arrived! Next Monday I’ll be visiting each class of Our Lady of Victories School to pray the rosary with the children. Considering the tragic conflict in the Middle East since 7th October last year, the need to pray for peace is surely more pressing than ever. St Pio is reputed to have said, “When a million children pray the rosary, the world will change.”

Gratitude to parents, teachers, catechists and all who give so much time and effort to helping our children know and love Jesus, possibly the greatest mission of all. Pope Francis stated recently: “I invite everyone to invoke Mary's intercession, so that the Lord may grant peace to the whole world.” May Our Lady help all of us become beacons of peace for society, and enable us to spread joy and hope where most needed.
