GIFT AID DONATIONS:

Dear Parishioners:

We have worked with our colleagues in the Parish Support Team towards procedures for processing the Gift Aid from contactless donations trough the Dona provider.

When signing a Gift Aid declaration on the device, you also will be asked if you would like your previous contactless donations to be Gift Aided as well.

Further, as entering a Gift Aid declaration on the device can take a couple of minutes, we want to help reduce the amount of time you may spend on the device, and reduce the queue for it. Leaflets have been created and placed at the back of the church and on the notice board. These contain a QR code that will enable you to use your smartphone to make your Gift Aid declaration.

You can also access the Dona portal and leave your donation by simply scanning the QR code that you can find in the Newsletter Section of the Parish Website.

VIRGIN MONEY GIVING

We’ve been notified by Virgin Money Giving (VMG) that it will be ending its services to all charities as of 30th November.

The organisation that owns VMG has made the decision that once sponsorship of the London Marathon ends this year, they will end all of their operations as a not-for-profit..

What does it mean for our parish?

Of course this does mean that beyond the 30th November 2021 we will not be able to offer the option for parishioners and visitors to donate via the  VMG page. Nonetheless, we  want to reassure you that we have already been working towards a new online payment system called Stripe, that will enable us to offer not just an alternative to VMG, but a more comprehensive and accessible way for parishioners and visitors to give to our Parish. Those who want to give using their smart phone apps, e.g. Apple Pay and Google Pay will be able to.

On the top of that, why not set up a standing order? Or deciding to use the Dona QR Code available in both parish website and parish newsletter to give. You will also find the QR Code at the back of the Church.

A Warm Welcome to Paul Hewitt, Our Candidate for the Permanent Diaconate!

Let us give a warm welcome to Paul Hewitt, our candidate for the permanent diaconate who would introduce himself to the parish community during masses this weekend. Please take a moment to greet Paul and make him feel your support.

Good Evening. My name is Paul Hewitt. I have been a parishioner here at Our Lady of Victories since 2005. I am married to Maria, who many of you will know, and we have two grown-up children, no longer living at home.
We are both trained and qualified as professional social workers and met at work many years ago.

I have worked in Local Authority settings for almost 35 years, and I am currently the statutory Director for Children’s Services Harrow Council. I have overall responsibility in the Council for Children and Adult Services, Public Health, Schools and Education.
So, what is it to be a Deacon? To be a Deacon is to be a man of service. Service on the Altar, and most importantly service in the community. It is a particular charisma of the Deacon to be engaged in the things of this world in the community and in the world of work.

I am now in formation to be ordained as a deacon. That formation includes completing further studies at St Mary’s University over the next three years; and it also involves formation in the spiritual life both on an individual level, and with my wife, but also as part of the spiritual life of this Parish.

My wife and I ask for your support and your prayers in this period of formation. I hope to be of service to the Church more widely and to this parish in particular, and with your prayers, God’s will be done.
I look forward to seeing you around in the parish over the next few months, as I find my way in this life of service.

Please pray for me,
Paul Hewitt
