Talk the talk, walk the walk

CHRIST HEALING THE SICK Jean Jouvenet 1644-1717
Dear parishioners and friends,
Ralph Waldo Emmerson a great literary figure in nineteenth century America wrote:
“Only so much do I know as I have lived. Instantly we know whose words are loaded with life. I learned immediately from any speaker how much he has lived. One person speaks from within, or from experience, and as a possessor of fact; another speaks from without, as a spectator, or as acquainted with the facts on the evidence of a third person. It is no use to preach to me from without. I can do that myself. ”

In the spiritual life the second hand, is of limited worth. Here the only person who speaks with authority is one who has experienced what is being talked about.

Jesus possessed that kind of authority. No fake news in him. Every Christian is called to that same integrity, that nourishes the soul of self and others.
Mark 1:21-28

Racial Justice Sunday 2024
This years theme “Seeing One Another in the Life of the Church”.
“Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love,
a tender heart, and a humble mind.” 1 Peter 3:8
As Catholics, we believe in the common humanity of every person and the importance of fraternity in overcoming differences.
This year, in the face of turbulent and often divisive global events, it is more important than ever to see one another, in all of our similarity and diversity, in the life of the Church. For more information see here: Racial Justice Sunday - Catholic Bishops' Conference (cbcew.org.uk)

A message from Cardinal Vincent Nichols Archbishop of Westminster about Gaza and the West Bank
In response to the Parish Priest of the Church of the Holy Family in Gaza City and from the CEO of the Latin Patriarchate.
There are 600 people sheltering and being cared for in the parish compound, together with over 50 seriously disabled and vulnerable children. The parish is also providing for 200 people in the Orthodox property as well as for local Muslim neighbours.
The situation in the West Bank is grave with more than 100,000 families to be assisted.
You can still donate via our parish office. All monies will be sent to the work of the Latin Patriarch Catholic Diocese of Jerusalem.
Young Married Couples Group

Are you a young married couple seeking to build friendships and desiring to connect with other young married couples? Well, a young married couples group is present in our parish.

The purpose of the group is to offer support and foster friendship and connection among the many young married couples present in our parish. The ideal age range of the group is under 40.

The group meets every month to socialize and foster communion and support. Among the different activities offered are meals together, trips out, games nights and social exercises. If you’re interested in attending, please email Steve and Annie Caprio at [email protected]. You can also join our Whatsapp group using the QR code below:

OLOV LATEST NEWS

GIFT AID DONATIONS:

Dear Parishioners:

We have worked with our colleagues in the Parish Support Team towards procedures for processing the Gift Aid from contactless donations through the Dona provider.

When signing a Gift Aid declaration on the device, you will also be asked if you would like your previous contactless donations to be Gift Aided.

Further, as entering a Gift Aid declaration on the device can take a couple of minutes, we want to help reduce the amount of time you may spend on the device, and reduce the queue for it. Leaflets have been created and placed at the back of the church and on the notice board. These contain a QR code that will enable you to use your smartphone to make your Gift Aid declaration. You can also access the Dona portal and leave your donation by simply scanning the underneath QR code:

You can also donate securely by debit or credit card by clicking on the button created at the section end.
