Peace makes a difference

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Peace is in short supply. The war in Ukraine, the killing in Israel of Shireen Abu Akleh and the gun massacre in the City of Buffalo in the USA. There is a peace that is an enforced or imposed peace. It can be a negotiated agreement or an armed truce, like the Pax Romana. It is a peace that is policed in order to keep order and prevent lawless behaviour. This is not the peace Jesus offers his disciples.

The peace Jesus gives wells up inside a person. It enables us to be peacemakers. This peace is the fruit of daily work to see that justice is done. Within that gift of peace, people need to listen to each other, to consider the reasons for the other side's view. This peace carries with it a sense of wholeness, healing, and completeness. It opens up the possibility of  true communion with Our Father, with God. It is not to be mistaken for tranquillity which is external. It is a Peace which passes understanding.  It is essentially internal. The Peace of Jesus is a gift given to those who love his word and keep it. ( John 14:15-16). To all those who thirst for justice, walk humbly with God and seek to love and follow the Lord it is a gift worth seeking.

God Bless,
Mgr Jim Curry

GIFT AID DONATIONS:

Dear Parishioners:

We have worked with our colleagues in the Parish Support Team towards procedures for processing the Gift Aid from contactless donations trough the Dona provider.

When signing a Gift Aid declaration on the device, you also will be asked if you would like your previous contactless donations to be Gift Aided as well.

Further, as entering a Gift Aid declaration on the device can take a couple of minutes, we want to help reduce the amount of time you may spend on the device, and reduce the queue for it. Leaflets have been created and placed at the back of the church and on the notice board. These contain a QR code that will enable you to use your smartphone to make your Gift Aid declaration. You can also access the Dona portal and leave your donation by simply scanning the underneath QR code:

You can also donate securely by debit or credit card by clicking on the button created at the section end.
