The Offertory: Part 2 Dear parishioners and friends, At the Last Supper Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it and gave it to his disciples. He also blessed a cup of wine and gave it to them. ‘This is my body’, he said. ‘This is my blood. Do this in memory of me’.   In the Liturgy of the Eucharist the Church prepares the gifts, gives thanks to God, breaks the bread, and shares Communion. The Mass is not a re-enactment of the Last Supper, but a re-presentation of those events, including the Crucifixion, that led to Jesus’ death and resurrection.   One way for the faithful to express their participation at Mass is by offering gifts for the needs of the Church and the poor. For many this is done through the contactless card machine at the back or via automatic direct debits from your bank account. Yet, still richly symbolic is the passing along of the collection basket for cash donations.   Hence, bread, wine, and money or other gifts for the poor or for the Church are brought to the altar. These are primary symbols of the Eucharistic liturgy; the bread and wine will be transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ; the gifts for the Church and the poor are symbols of the sacrifice made by the entire assembly, who will be transformed by partaking in sacramental Communion. Friday 8th March - Day of prayer for the Holy Land We join Cardinal Nichols in his request for special prayers to be said on March 8th for the Holy Land. The Stations of the Cross at 6.30pm will be offered for this intention. Stations of the Cross Stations take place in the Church on Friday's in Lent at 6.30pm Friday 1st March is the Feast of St David, the patron of Wales. St David's most famous saying is. Gwnewch y pethau bychain or “do the little things”   Doing the little things certainly is important and helps us to sustain a sense of happiness. The contact number is 07561456074.  OLOV LATEST NEWS GIFT AID DONATIONS:   Dear Parishioners:   We have worked with our colleagues in the Parish Support Team towards procedures for processing the Gift Aid from contactless donations through the Dona provider. When signing a Gift Aid declaration on the device, you will also be asked if you would like your previous contactless donations to be Gift Aided.  Further, as entering a Gift Aid declaration on the device can take a couple of minutes, we want to help reduce the amount of time you may spend on the device, and reduce the queue for it. Leaflets have been created and placed at the back of the church and on the notice board. These contain a QR code that will enable you to use your smartphone to make your Gift Aid declaration. This is an opportunity to spend some time in prayer before the exposed Blessed Sacrament. During that time a priest will also be available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Adoration concludes at Noon with the prayer of the Angelus.
